Climate Finance Training, Pakistan
I led the Climate Finance portion of a capacity building project (2025) by the University of Kassel and PIK – Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, in collaboration with GIZ Pakistan and the Global Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC). The course brought together 120 university teachers from 20+ universities across Islamabad, KP, and Punjab, who are now incorporating the course materials into their research and teaching curricula.
Our course, Fundamentals of Climate Finance in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, introduced:
The basics of climate finance and its global architecture
Instruments of climate finance (grants, loans, bonds, sukuk, guarantees, insurance, carbon credits, etc.)
Climate project finance, including project cycles and concept note preparation
Opportunities for academics to engage in teaching, research, and evidence generation
